A 55-year-old odd-job worker has allegedly lured his sister-in-law with a job opportunity but was raped her when they met. Earlier, he told his wife that he can find a job for her sister and arranged to meet them in a container in Kg Sg Tekala in Kajang on 17 October 2003.

After his wife had left the container to pick up the children, the man raped the 20-year-old sister-in-law there at 9pm.

Two days later, the man brought the victim to an orchard in Kg Tuntong and raped her again in a hut. Seven days later, he raped her at the hut again. On both occasions, it is believed that the wife witnessed the incidents. Once, the man burnt the victim’s clothes before raping her.

Yesterday in court, the victim said she was assaulted, tied up and threatened to be doused in petrol and set on fire.

The judge set 29 April 2008 for sentencing. It is learnt that the man was previously convicted of three counts of rape on 19 March 2008.

A 17-year-old girl was found murdered and her body buried about 500m from her home in Kampung Chengal Bedil, Kuala Balah, Kelantan on Saturday. Her half-naked body was found with her hands tied at the front with her tudung.

On Friday at 7pm, the family of Nurul Anira Che Rosik had lodged a missing person’s report. Earlier, Nurul Anira did not return from her tuition session at her school and a search party was form to look for her.

The next day, police used a tracker dog to conduct searches. A sandal and a soft-cloth hairband was found near a ravine near her home at 7pm. Later, the dog lead the search party to a mound of earth near a clump of bamboo, where they found her body.

Post-mortem results suggested that Nurul Anira had been raped and strangled.

Nurul Anira’s parents, who are divorced, were at the district hospital mortuary yesterday. She was the fifth of six siblings.

A robbery gang which uses young women to target male victims have been apprehended by the police. The syndicate would use women to lure male victims into deserted areas such as back lanes of shops before robbing them of their valuables at knife point.

Following a police report made on 1 April 2008 where a man followed a woman in Skudai and was robbed by three men, police arrested a man and two women in Bukit Chagar three days later. Another syndicate member was arrested in Kota Tinggi and 31 mobile phones from a telecommunications outlet along Jalan Trus were seized. The phones were believed to have been loot supplied by the suspects.

The suspects will be charged under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery.
