A general worker and father of five was sentenced to 45 years’ jail and 15 strokes of the cane for sodomizing and raping his underaged daughter. His children have been handed over to the Welfare Department.

The daughter was first sodomized in their Sentul flat toilet on 18 July 2003 when she was 13 years old.

The judge gave 15 years of jail time for each of the two sodomy charges and a rape charge. The father was also given five strokes of the cane for each of the charges. The jail terms are to run concurrently commencing from the date of his arrest on 4 March 2004.

A major drug lab and an international drug syndicate was uncovered when police raided two locations on Tuesday, seizing 260kg of drugs worth RM44 million. The drugs are believed to be for the international market.

A total number of 13 men, including 6 Meixcans, 4 Singaporeans, 1 Canadian and 2 locals were arrested. RM551,900 cash and 4 vehicles, including a Honda MPV, a Honda City, a Mitsubishi Storm and a Proton Wira were confiscated.

Narcotics officers from Bukit Aman and state police headquarters conducted the first raid on a house in Taman Pelangi where five suspects were arrested, 45.8kg of ketamine and other chemicals were seized.

A factory in Senai was targeted in the second raid, where an illegal drug lab was found. Police seized 215kg of syabu in solid and liquid forms. 3 Mexicans and 2 Singaporeans were arrested on the spot, while another Mexican was arrested at a hotel and the 2 locals nabbed along Jalan Utama, Kampung Melaju Majidee.

The suspects have valid travel documents and have been remanded for two weeks. Police are investigating the case under Section 39 (b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug trafficking, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Four robbers armed with parangs attacked a foreign worker in Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara on Wednesday at 2:50am, stabbing him to death after taking cash and mobile phones. He and seven other workers were tied up, but he fought with them and tried to escape.

Police were alerted by neighbours and reached the scene with the robbers still there. It is believed that one of the robbers was involved in the murder of a foreign worker in Subang Jaya where five were arrested. One of the workers has been arrested, believed to be an accomplice to the four suspects.

The suspects have been remanded for a week to aid investigations.
